Be prepared for cuteness overload today! This is my newest niece Delaney Quinn who is just 5 days old here. She surprised her family by coming three and a half weeks early and is such a teeny tiny little thing that most of my newborn hats were way too big for her! This past weekend I had the opportunity to have a booth for Sweet Serendipity Photography at the Gainesville Wedding Expo at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Gainesville, Fl. Paul Rhodenizer and the whole Jay’s Bridal team did an amazing job putting together the event. This was my first expo on the vendor side of things and there was a lot of planning and preparation that went into it! I know that my booth would not have been possible without the help of my amazing husband as he took my concept for a booth and turned it into a masterpiece.

The lights were his addition, and they definitely added dimension to my canvases.

And of course the sample books and albums!

I am sure you noticed the GORGEOUS floral arrangement that Susan Minter from the Event Divas provided. It added a wonderful touch to the booth, not to mention smelled FABULOUS!

And my handsome hubby- the brawn AND the brains behind the booth design! I was certainly appreciative of how strong he is because each board in the backdrop weighed close to 100 pounds and being 6 months pregnant I wasn’t overly helpful with the manual labor part of the booth. He assembled and then disassembled the backdrop at the event.

And we really lucked out with our booth neighbors! Right next to us was Tracey Hicks Catering who not only fed us but had some delicious food! Here are some photos from her beach themed booth-

Our other neighbors were Dream Day Cakes who also fed us some yummy cake samples….

We were also near Betsy Gardner and The Plant Shoppe Florist who had an awesome Floral Photo Booth inspiration.

All in all it was a very fun afternoon. I especially loved having the opportunity to work the booth with my husband who normally does not do events with me. It was great being able to meet some new local vendors and lots of brides to be and their families! The first 50 brides who visited my booth received a complimentary Bridal Brag Book with a booked wedding. They also had the opportunity to enter to win a $500 album credit – the winner will be chosen tonight using Random.Org and announced here on the blog.

And as a reminder to all brides to be- any weddings booked before September 15th will receive a complimentary Custom Guest Book ( a $200 value!)

Three years ago on Easter Sunday I was blessed by the birth of my daughter Madalyn. We had anticipated her arrival on the 7th of April but we think she heard the Labor and Delivery nurses discussing the Easter basket that was waiting for the first baby born on Easter Sunday, April 8th. After 24 hours of labor (followed by a C section!) we welcomed Madalyn Jean into the world. She thoroughly enjoyed the Easter Basket and we were thrilled to meet her.

It was only fitting to have her third birthday party on Easter Sunday. Even though she isnt actually three for four more days we celebrated on this gorgeous Spring day with family and friends. Here are a few favorites of my own little princess on her special day.

My Next Thirty Years :: Swanson Sundays {Gainesville Photographer}

I woke up this morning with the Tim MCGraw sing in my head- “My Next Thirty Years.” At 7:56 this morning I officially entered my third decade of life. Hard to believe! I celebrated this momentous occasion by taking a trip to Cape Coral in beautiful Southwest Florida with Shawn and Madalyn, dogs in tow. Friday we spend on Sanibel and Captiva Island and of course made a pit stop at the beach where Madalyn couldn’t help but take her “wading” a bit far into the freezing cold water. Here’s a few snaps from our mini vacation.

Of course by the time we left “wading” had become “splashing” had become practically swimming. We had a blast! I am so blessed to have been able to spend this birthday with those who matter most to me : my family. Thanks to all of my family, friends, and wonderful clients for making this birthday so special!

Well, since Family Fridays was a bust (as in I didn’t have enough time to post enough!) I decided that for 2010 it would be called Swanson Sundays and hopefully would motivate me a little more to take- and share- some photos of my OWN family.

Since today was cold (well cold to this Florida girl!) I set up the studio in our home for this session with Madalyn. The set up and take down took double the amount of time it took for these pics because in true two year old fashion I had about 5 minutes of cooperation. I thought that getting to wear her ballet outfit might entice her a little bit….

The “pretty princess walk” as Madalyn’s ballet instructor Miss Erin likes to call it. Madalyn takes ballet at the Cameron Dance Center and I HIGHLY recommend it for any moms looking to put their little ones into classes. She started just before she turned two and a half and they have been wonderful!

Got to LOVE the look on her face! I caught her mid-pirouette here.

Madalyn quickly tired of the ballet outfit and so I added the pettiskirt…

And then she spotted the feather boas in my prop closet….

All the dancing must have worn her out…

I have been so busy with the holidays and orders and packaging and sessions, and really just life in general- and I realized that I have not spent any time taking pictures of my OWN child. I took these photos on Thanksgiving Day while waiting to do my sister’s photo session- and wanted to share some photos of the absolute love of my life.

Wow- 29 months…. and now we are closer to “two and a half” which for some reason seems so much older than 2. I can’t believe what a beautiful young lady my little baby is turning into. We took Madalyn to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens for her little mini shoot, and of course we had to bring along something fun for her to play with! Thanks to Factory Card Outlet for the bright and colorful balloon bouquet shown here- Madalyn loved playing with these and I hate to admit it but they hung around the house until they were all deflated when I had to sneak them out to the garbage so she wouldn’t notice!

Well of course it is Gator Gameday here in the Swamp, and since I got to watch my neice and nephew while my family went off to the game, I had to take advantage of having the kiddos together to do a quick photo session. Let’s just say it took longer to set up then it did to shoot these photos- I guess that is what you get when trying to work with an 18 month old, a two and a half year old, and a three and a half year old with no help!

Here are some cute pics that we got…. and GO GATORS!

Future Gator cheerleader here- she has been practicing saying “TOUCHDOWN” since the National Championship game last year.

Pretty Pettiskirt on Family Friday/ Gainesville Photographer

Tomorrow my little princess will be 28 months old. Hard to believe she is almost halfway through her second year. It never ceases to amaze me how much she has grown since she was born- from such a little helpless infant into an independent young lady.

Just a little bit of bribery is involved in mini photo shoots with Madalyn (can you sense the sarcasm here?) Now that she knows that you can see a picture on the viewfinder she is more interested in the camera then letting me take her photo. But if I come up with something to distract her (like a fantastic pink lollipop!) she will pose for about 15 minutes. So here are our fifteen minutes of Family Friday photos.

The pettiskirt is a perfect prop for photos of girls of all ages. They make them for as small as newborn up to adults. If your little girl would like to schedule a Petticoat Session please let me know. Sessions must be booked at least 3 weeks in advance to ensure that I have the correct size pettiskirt on hand.
