We wrapped up the second part of Jamie and Eric’s engagement session in Downtown Alachua. The first part of their session took place on UF Campus. Here are a few more favorites!

Remember Shannon and Mel from their intimate engagement session at their historic home in McIntosh? Their wedding, which also took place at their home, was every bit as intimate and elegant. The ceremony was beautifully performed and every person in attendance was a close friend or family member, which made the wedding that much more special.

Their rings. Shannon’s ring served as both her engagement ring and her wedding band, because to her she said it just felt “right.” The stones on her ring represent the joining of their two families.

Jessica and Sam were married August 15, 2009 at the beautiful Rustic Manor in Newberry, Fl. Here are some of the photos from their special day. Since Jessica and Sam were one of my first couples to hire me as their wedding photographer last August, I am sharing an extra long sneak peek here as my thank you.

Jessica and Sam chose to incorporate a sand ceremony to represent the joining of their two lives into one.

The groomsmen “lost” Jessica’s ring. Here is one looking in his shoe for it. The ring had found itself a great hiding spot around his toe.

Welcome to the reception- where this couple certainly knew how to have FUN! Here they are dancing their way in as their grand entrance.

If the old adage about rain on your wedding day is true, then Jessica and Sam have many years of a blissfully happy marriage ahead of them. Not only did it rain on their wedding day- there was a significant weather alert for Alachua County the entire afternoon of their wedding. The rain did not dampen the spirits of the bride or the groom, and Jessica said that the outdoor wedding ceremony would go on rain or shine.

The sky as we arrived at the Rustic Manor for the pre-ceremony coverage. Just slightly ominous. My second shooter and I actually had to wait in the car for almost 45 minutes for a long enough break in the rain that we could get our gear inside!

Once the rain let up, I went inside to meet with the bride for her pictures, and Jenna, my second shooter, headed to the UF stadium to brave the weather there for pictures of the groom and his entourage. More of those photos in an additional post.

Jessica had mentioned a long time ago that she was in search of the perfect cupcake- and here is why. In lieu of a traditional wedding cake the couple had cupcakes provided by Cakes By Pam Greenwell with an anniversary cake topper. How fabulous.

As promised, here is a much longer sneak peek from Emily and John’s wedding last weekend.

Emily had her stepfather and mother walk her down the aisle.

It’s so great having a second shooter- Jenna was in place and was able to capture one of the sweetest handoffs.

I can’t get over just how amazingly cute these two are together- just check out how he is holding her pinky during the ceremony.

And look at John looking at Emily while the pastor speaks about the bond of marriage.

Emily and John were up for anything, and even braved this rickety dock for this photo.

And just in case John forget the most important words of the day….

Emily was my roommate in college, so I was so honored and excited when she asked me to photograph her wedding. My sister Jenna, who is my amazing assistant and was also one of the 1514 roomies all those years ago, was also able to come along for Emily and John’s wedding last weekend in Stuart, FL. It was great to see some familiar faces from our college days, as well as be there to celebrate this amazing couple and their fairy-tale love story. The two met in the beginning of the year when Emily was the maid of honor at John’s brother’s wedding. They met, had a whirlwind courtship and continued a long distance relationship with Emily in Gainesville and John in Virginia until he asked her to marry him in May.

Emily was such a beautiful bride, and everything about this wedding from the location to the ceremony to the favors was so very intimate and exquisite, and just so very Emily! Jenna and I had a fabulous time and loved being a part of this couple’s special day. Enjoy the first sneak peek- more of the couple will be posted soon!

The ceremony and reception took place at Finz Waterfront Restaurant in Stuart, FL on the Intercostal Waterway.

Always a traditionalist, Emily chose to wear her grandmother’s pearls for her walk down the aisle. I don’t think I have ever seen a happier bride on her wedding day.

There are times when I am photographing a couple that I can just sense how absolutely in love they are. With Shannon and Mel, I felt this way during their entire session. It was impossible not to notice how unbelievably crazy they are about each other. Shannon is an RN and Mel is a flight paramedic so they certainly have saving lives in common, among other things.

Shannon and Mel were lucky enough to find a home in historic McIntosh that the previous owner had already restored. The two of them are incredibly proud of their beautiful home and will be holding their August wedding ceremony there with a reception to follow at Steve’s Cafe Americain in downtown Gainesville.

Not only do they have a beautiful home to be starting their lives together in, but a magnificent neighborhood as well. We didn’t have to go far from their front steps to capture these stunning photos.

Look at them look at each other- absolutely what love is all about.

I love the story behind Shannon’s untraditional engagement ring. Shannon and Mel found this ring in Germany while at a local market- and according to German culture the stones symbolize the joining of two families into one. It symbolized everything that they believe love is about. Mel bought the ring, and because it just felt like it was the “right time”, he proposed to Shannon in the church in Germany where Shannon’s parents got married.

We snuck over to their neighbor’s yard for this shot- and I LOVE these wildflowers! They are taller than Shannon!

McIntosh is known for its several hundred year old oak trees, so of course we had to incorporate one of them into a photo.

Jessica and Sam were the first clients that I had book a wedding with me after I decided that JLS Photography would delve into the wedding side of photography. When you are just starting out in the wedding business, you need a few great couples to take a chance on you, and Jessica and Sam were willing to do that. Almost a year later we are quickly approaching their special day in August, and we finally got together for our much anticipated E- Session. I am posting an extra long sneak peek here because… well because I love these guys! We did a two part E- Session- part one was a more casual setting on the UF Campus and in the Gator Stadium. Part two took place in the beautiful downtown Alachua as the sun was setting. It was so much fun spending the evening with these two- they are just a lot of fun to be around and have some great ideas for pictures. Even better, they are willing to try anything! Jessica and Sam- I hope you love your sneak peek and I can’t wait to be a part of your wedding!
